The charts below show the land area lost (thousand km2) per one-meter rise in sea level and the population (in million) affected per one-meter rise in sea level in the predicted future。

The charts illustrate the predicted loss of land area and the number of people affected in six regions as a result of a one-metre rise in sea level.

概述段

Overall, Asia is by farthe most severely affected regionin both categories. However, the remaining five regionsdisplay considerable discrepanciesin the relationship between land loss and demographic impacts.

- Asia

Body paragraph 1

Regardingland loss, Asiais projected to lose450 thousand km² of land, followed byAmerica (160 thousand km2) and Europe (150 thousand km2). South Africa and Central Africaexperience relatively smaller losses, at 120 and 80 thousand km² respectively. Oceania,in contrast,is estimated to experience the least land loss, at only 10 thousand km².

(150 thousand km2)

80 thousand km2

(10 thousand km2)

Body paragraph 2

As forpopulation impact, Asiaemerges as the most vulnerable regionagain, where 250 million people will be affected.Despiterelatively limited landloss, South Africa and Central Africarank second and third in terms ofdemographic consequences, with 117 million and 95 million people affected respectively. Americacomes nextwith 73 million people affected,in contrast toits second-place position for land loss.Conversely, despitea moderate level of land loss, merely 10 million people in Europe are predicted to be affected. This figure is five times as large as that in Oceania, whichremains the least affected region

(250 million)
